A. Outlets are 110 volt with standard U.S. two-pronged plugs.
Q. Is there a departure tax?
A. Yes. The tax is $26 and can be paid with U.S. dollars, Colones, or major credit card.
Q. What is the sales tax in Cost Rica?
A. The sales tax is 13 percent.
Q. What about other taxes?
A. Tax levels in Costa Rica are based on income: the more you earn, the more you pay. If, however, you earn less than the minimum amount established by Costa Rican law, you pay no taxes. Be sure to talk with your accountant or financial consultant about your particular circumstances.
